This year our chapter participated in the Turkey Hunters Care Program. We
provided 52 turkeys at Thanksgiving to needy families in our community in
conjunction with the First Baptist Church of Bushnell. We are also granting two
$500 scholarships to eligible high school seniors and are providing support to
Project Graduation programs.
We have a free Jakes Day out event planned for all children up to age 17. This will
be held on April 26th, 2008 at Richloam Fish Hatchery from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
and will include a tour of the fish hatchery, fishing, archery, antler scoring, and other
fun activities. This will be a great day of outdoor fun for the children of our
community. Lunch will be provided and again, this is a free event.
A Women in the Outdoors event is also being planned for the near future. At
these events exciting courses, such as hiking, camping, primitive cooking, jewelry
making, yoga, archery, and others are taught by experts and trained professionals
in a relaxed, noncompetitive environment. This event will likely be held at Dade
Battlefield Historic State Park for women 14 years and older. There will be a
nominal charge that will include an annual membership in Women in the
Outdoors.
